The winter, for those of you in the higher latitudes, is a cold, dark, and difficult time. For many the winter is a time for questioning why you even live here.
The winter blues, or more clinically know as seasonal affective disorder, is a general sadness brought on by the lower light of usually winter. The days are shorter, its not sunny as often, its cold outside. It may be hard for many to understand why anyone would be excited about winter. Well, I am.
For me, I could not imagine living in a place that did not have snow. While, yes it can be annoying, I love when the woods are covered in a thick blanket of snow. I love putting on a pair of skis, or my snowboard, and racing down a mountain. The outdoors in winter can be harsh, but if you know how to dress, the lioness of winter is really just a kitten.

I know many do struggle with winter, my best friend is one of those who does. She struggles to be warm at all, and gets a bit of the winter blues, yet she is still excited to go skiing. This is how she deals with the winter blues, she finds ways to make winter fun.
I wanted to write this article for people who struggle with seasonal affective disorder, to show them that while you may never love winter, but you can still find the fun in it.

This is how I deal with it. I am affected by the weather a great deal. A cloudy day means I will not be as happy as I could be. The winter is mostly cloudy days, but I still find joy in snow. The few blue sky days are also so amazing. I encourage anyone who finds themselves not enjoying winter, to find some winter sport to help them find joy in winter.
With all that being said, spring is here, and I am looking forward to warm weather!
